Asia Argento is an Italian actor and filmmaker born into a large family. She has also pursued film and acting. The Church, directed by Michele Soavi, was her first role. In 1998, Asia directed AbelAsia, that was honoured by the Rome Film Festival. Asia directed her debut feature film Scarlet Diva (1999), in which she was both the actress leading the film and the author of its screenplay. In May 2000, the movie was screened across the globe. It was the winner of the Brooklyn's special prize at the Williamsburg festival of film.
